The Storms

March 19, 2026

In all that we have experienced in the last weeks with the storms, for me, the wind is the hardest. The wailing of the wind and then the crash (or threat of crashing trees and limbs) makes most moments stiff with stress.

Nashville experienced a terrible ice storm that kept many people without electricity for 2 weeks plus. There were many complaints and challenges with no electricity, but there were even more stories of people helping people. (millions of others are continuing to experience more storms). The helping stories included: Sharing food. Bringing blankets. Taking coffee to the linemen outside repairing the electricity. Warming stations. Neighbors helping each other. Chain saws buzzing all hours of the day. Helping each other. A remarkable storm. A remarkable time. Remarkable reactions and help. We humans really can be quite wonderful when the circumstances need us to be.
