Seasoned leaders have a communication characteristic in common…they think they have shared “what to do and how to do it” enough in their communication. And yet, when someone like me comes to their organization to ask “what are the challenges”, I ALWAYS hear – “Leadership and Communication issues”.

If you have ever trained a youngster to use the bathroom; a new puppy to sit; chickens to come when called; a T-Ball team of little ones, you have to repeat what is needed and expected. When people grow up and join an organization, they deserve the same time and attention in the training process of “what to do and how to do it”.

Senior executives tell me that they “have already told them” what to do and how to do it. How come I have to say it again, and again, and again? The answer is: because you do. People are not stupid, they just need to hear it again. So tell them.
