Leaders Who Listen Are Respected, Trusted And Effective

September 11, 2026

A true story: I had an executive regional manager contact me for help. His region covered ¾ of the USA and recruited recruiters to do valued searches for $350,000+ leadership positions. He had 14 experienced women recruiters who lived and worked in his region and reported to him.

When we spoke, he said that he was having work issues and complaints that he was not listening to what his team needed. His complaint to me is that they did not “get” what was needed and that was the speed with finding great candidates to refer to their own internal senior executives for the multiple current openings they had.

So I asked him to take the NMA listening test: www.NatalieManor.com/listening-test. It took me a bit of encouraging to get him to take it, but he did and his score was miserable. We debriefed his answers and his attitudes around speed vs. quality. I am pleased to say we developed an ongoing “way” for he and his team to communicate. His team was delighted to be listened to; he was delighted with the results and the candidates were clearly well selected because of “listening” and communicating. Try the test. Find out your level of listening especially if you have been complaining a lot lately about others and their communication.
