When you, as a leader, do not know the answer…

When you, as a leader, do not know the answer…

Leaders that I coach and train their teams, are frustrated and unmotivated when they do not easily know the answer to the question or issue with their people and/or projects.

Your experiences and training do not always give you the optics in the moment you want them. So ask. I know you know you should know the answers, solutions and variables, but there are occasions (like the last 3+ years) that have hidden most of the obvious…”like I should know this”.

Ask. Text. Email. Smoke signals. Marshall Goldsmith, best executive business coach on the planet, asked his Fortune 100 leaders to ask colleagues, subordinates and friends, what did they think. Widen your circle of information. People love to help. And I bet they would love to help you too. Senior leaders should never ever think they are done learning. Deep breath and ask “so what do you think of the way we are handling the ________ project and what would you do differently”? OMG, watch the information flow to you.

May I help?           CoachNatalie@NatalieManor.com
