Time outs for grownups are a GOOD thing.

Time outs for grownups are a GOOD thing.
My 6 year old grandson hates time outs. Everything has to stop and he needs to be quiet for 3-5 minutes. No distractions, interruptions or snacks. It feels terrible to him and those are the longest minutes of his life.
What if we took a time out for us not because we were naughty, but because we need all distractions to stop, no interruptions (snacks are ok) and the minutes to be long enough to reach a level of soothing?
Set your alarm for one hour from now and then set your timer for 5 minutes. Let’s see if you are capable of doing nothing and just breathing for 5 minutes. Once you find out how lovely those 5 minutes are, set your alarm for mid-morning and mid-afternoon and set the timer – just for you.
