When a direct report is not doing well…

One of the best leaders I know contacted me to share her frustration about a direct report who is failing. Their communication is in trouble, even after being coached and reminded what is needed.

Don’t let your frustration turn into ego or anger. If someone is failing and either can’t or won’t improve, then get help. You might find out you are the problem for them not improving. What?? Yup, you could be the cause of the issue not improving. They have already disappointed you and they know it. It is NOT clear to them how to recover, even if you have shared a roadmap with them.

Great leaders – really, really good leaders – sometimes have unsuccessful interactions. Stop blaming yourself and them and get help. Leaders never stop learning and this may be the learning moment of your career..

May I help?         CoachNatalie@NatalieManor.com
