Accountability Creates Success And High Performance Results…

Asking people to do “things” needs an accountability reference for you and for them. At the conclusion of each meeting and conversation, make sure that everyone knows what is due and when.

Accountability can feel like a Friday night as a teenager when your parents asked you where you were going; what time you would get there; would there be parents present; who else would be going and what time were you coming home? I remember that and it irritated me…like I was not trusted. However, when you provide clarity around why a particular piece of work or project is important, you can get buy in from those doing the work and providing the data.

Make sure you are clear with what success would look like and how the project, report, team contribution, organizational sales results, etc. need to be handled, and data collected and communicated. Humans love clarity. Sometimes they do not like accountability. However, it makes everyone more effective when the goals and outcomes are very very very clear.
