Stop Trying And Start Doing…It Is So Rewarding

We have all been guilty of using the phrase “I am going to try and…”. The moment the people I work with decide to “try” and do something, it is a big signal that the results are not that important or valuable to them. Olympians don’t try. Superior athletes don’t try. Great bosses don’t try. Babies learning how to walk do not try. They practice until their doing is really good.

The end result needs to be really valuable to us to get in there and do/practice what comes next. Most of the time we are not that great at taking the steps that are needed to get a result done, especially if the result we want is new to us.

When my daughters were learning to stand and walk, they always had a goal to getting to that place so they could have whatever it was – a toy, a cookie, the tail of our doxie pup, a really stinky dirty pile of something in the yard…the goal was to get there. One of my girls never crawled, she scooted. People were worried about her – not anymore because as a champion softball athlete; runner; Airborne; no one remembers the scoots – she got to the goal. Skip the trying, just do the doing.
