When Times Are Tough And Communication Is Not Working Well

Delivering difficult information is hard even in the best of times. But when times are tough and the conversation/information needs to be discussed, it takes even more effort to communicate clearly. Here are five (5) Red flags that indicate it is time to have the difficult conversation:

  • You are consciously avoiding the conversation/discussion…and know it
  • There are continual mistakes because the information has not been shared
  • Complaints about performance and behavior continue
  • You are developing a lack of trust and respect for the person and/or situation
  • You have taken way too long to handle what was pretty simple and now has gotten complicated

Don’t delay any longer. Review what is needed, make sure you are clear and can share that clarity. Listen. Know what you want as an outcome and share that during the conversation.
