How the Olympics challenged the participants.

How the Olympics challenged the participants.

In doing research about the practice times, eating, rest and mental practice, a “standard” 10,000 hours might get you to the Olympics. They eat, sleep, drink and do their expertise all day, every day, like a normal 9-5 job. Then they think about it, eat for it, sleep for it, hydrate for it. It = their expertise.

The lucky ones have a family, coach, team, mentor yelling positive language and clapping to encourage them. The new Superbowl winners from LA won in their own stadium with thousands of people cheering them on. Those players spent thousands of hours practicing also. And they had the powerful support of the “slightly interested” fans creating an energy of “you can do this” from the stands.

The 2022 Olympians did not have family – brothers, sisters, Aunt Mable, moms, dads, fans – to cheer them on. The stadiums were empty. The isolation was terrifying. The food was reported as not good and the beds were made out of cardboard.

For all the Olympic athletes, thank you for your inspiration and participating when it was this hard. You are a marvel of human motivation and integrity.

May I help you stay inspired?         CoachNatalie@NatalieManor.com
