Is your ego in the way of you leading/living well?

Defining the Ego: the “I” or self of any person; a person as thinking, feeling, and willing, and distinguishing itself from the selves of others and from objects of its thought. Psychoanalysis. the part of the psychic apparatus that experiences and reacts to the outside world and thus mediates between the primitive drives of the id and the demands of the social and physical environment.

I find that most references to someone’s ego refers to arrogance not confidence. But you see from the definitions of “ego”, it is a powerful part of who we are and drives much of how we operate. Do you spend any time with your ego so you can understand how you are reacting to the world and what important experiences you have had or need to have? This is a very important question for developing a healthy ego and knowing what it is for you.

More and more I am asking my coaching clients to find time daily, even if only for just a few moments, so they spend time with themselves and get to know who they are today. There is strength in self-knowledge. Trusting yourself in this chaotic world is a pure gift you can give yourself.

May I help?
