Your Best Holiday Stress Reducing Tips from Natalie

This past year has been all of us getting our PhD in learning how to take care of each other and ESPECIALLY ourself.

May I share with you some very simple, yet very effective, easy-to-do-stress relieving practices that work on all humans…including stressed out you.

Take care of yourself. This is one of the hardest practices because we gather stress to us like it is deserved. It is not. Not knowing what we need to begin to reduce the stress can cause more stress. However, there is a very simple practice that will begin to ease your stress and you are already very good at it.

Breathing. We cannot live without breath and yet we forget how easy it can be to not breathe well enough to calm ourselves. Three deep breaths in a row can produce almost a miracle of becoming more in control. To know that people with panic attacks; fear during an accident; being startled in an anxiety moment, that our body automatically takes a huge breath. It is the most natural reaction our bodies produce. We are encouraged to breathe and our bodies automatically breathe for us when something terrible happens.

What if you just took some scheduled moments for you (and often during the day) to do 3 deep breaths. You have your device with you all of the time…use it’s alarms to remind you during the day to breathe.

We have a very difficult year ending and no promises of a less stressful one coming. You can make a difference for you right now by breathing in the air that our bodies need and begin to relax because your body will appreciate the moments of knowing it is ok.

Be well. Be safe. Be mindful of your absolute control and contributions to your own body, mind and spirit. Begin with your breathing, right here and right now.
