Who are you listening to??

When we see graphics and pictures, our attention is drawn to that picture. How about the graphics of a situation and it has a caption over the head of the graphic – human or otherwise – with the thinking of the graphic. Funny or sarcastic does not matter. We get to “see” what they are thinking and have our own experience with
the comments.

That is where judgment comes in and “in our head listening” which is mostly negative. You see the graphic; read the caption; have your reaction and then make your judgment about funny, not funny, who do they think they are, what is the point, I will use that at the next staff meeting, nope – don’t like. And who is it that is saying all of that and having those opinion(s)? That’s right, the critical, judgmental, stinker who is always in your head…and always commenting.

That is who you are listening to…how is that working for you? I find that when my clients get really ramped up about a topic, it is mostly false and guided by some prehistoric experience of their own that they have not taken care of. A negative reaction deserves a positive response. That is how we learn to be an acceptable social animal in this life. My suggestion is that you give yourself some time away from that hyper critical head voice and find a place where you can access some positive commentary. Time away will help you be less anxious. It will guide you to be kinder to you. AND everyone around you will also benefit.
