What coaching and leadership feedback have you been reluctant to give/share?

Ignoring a situation does not work. It will eat at you at the oddest times…like right when you put your head on your pillow and your brain explodes with “why why why why”.

As a leader, we have to give feedback even when it is negative. However, not all feedback is negative. There could be dozens of people waiting to hear from you about next steps; your opinion; new data; projections (positive and negative) – people want and need to be informed by you. Trust me, most of the time they are waiting to hear from you…their leader.

Data, change, information and organizational news does not have to be viewed as bad just because it is new or different. Step out of your own reaction mode and tailor the messages so people can understand what is being said. Your reluctance is the issue, not the information. Be the trusted leader that can and will deliver the information when needed and in a timely way.
