Maybe you need to STOP reading and STOP listening to everyone else

Maybe you need to STOP reading and STOP listening to everyone else.
If you ask people what they are reading (listening to) to stay informed and to improve their leadership, communication and performance my guess would be they have many many resources. 6 books in progress on their bedstand; 3 prominent weekly Podcasts they would never miss; blogs that provide tasty tidbits of skill enhancement and one or two Mastermind groups or accountability partners. That’s a lot of information to mentally sort and add to your already busy lives.
What if you cut out all of the reading and listening for just one week and spent that time with you? What do you really think? How do you feel? What trend are you interested in or concerned about? When was the last time that NO ONE got into your head except you? I am suggesting that you reconnect with that brilliant and clever person you have given away to the experts. Don’t discontinue their input, but just put it on hold for one week.
I have 5 of my senior executive clients doing this right now – taking just one week of no other expert input but their own thinking and reflecting. Talk about resistance. “What if I miss something important Natalie”? I think the most important “something” you are missing now is spending time with you…powerful, smart and caring you. You should hear the results they are getting…
