What accountability success methods do you need to revisit?

The process of using accountability can sometimes sound like Friday night as a teenager. Where are you going? What time will you get there? Who will be there? And more… I find leaders reluctant to apply the magic of getting the project and process details because it can sound like you are “questioning” someone rather than following up on critical details and timeframes.

Accountability can help you hit the mark on what to expect and how to contribute to any work or outstanding needs that are unclear. Try this: Joe, you said you would have the new data next week. What day and time works for you to get it to me? Do you need anything from me to support you getting the data from IT? Also, since this is a new project, would you like a reminder of what we discussed? If so, when would a reminder work best for you?

Once you implement – CONSISTENTLY – the power of accountability conversations, you will seldom ever be irritated that the data is late; wrong data; the “I did not know” what was needed statement … etc. Try it. Let people know you are experimenting with the accountability coaching and then ask for support. It is powerful.
