How are you helping yourself get from sad to glad?

How are you helping yourself get from sad to glad?

Some of you will say that there is not much to be glad about and that being sad is the new normal for your life. NOPE. Yes, there are lots of negative happenings in our lives and worlds, but our selves need us to remedy the negativity each and every day. No one is tasked to take care of your happiness but you. So what are some of the things you can do to shift from sad to glad and create some natural joy for you?

Here are some solutions that my very smart clients are doing: making a list of their favorite music and playing it daily and LOUDLY (and sometimes dancing too); writing real cards and notes to people that they know would be shocked to hear from them; buying their favorite magazine and getting a cool drink and looking at every page; downloading the laughter of babies and using it as their ring tone on their phone (try to be sad when you hear that); stopping each morning and afternoon to count their blessings – some are writing them down and others are saying them out loud; revisiting topics and memories that have supported you and inspired you in the past.

I am extremely fortunate to have a patio and backyard – my happy place is the morning watering of all my plants and veggies. It is an amazing way to start my day. If you do not have a backyard, may I suggest this YouTube video that will help you just be still and breathe. I have it on in my office in the background most of my day.
