What is keeping you motivated?
The most successful people have a “thing” they do to help them be motivated. If you have ever watched a pitcher in a baseball game, they have a “thing” they do before every pitch. It might be twitching their cap; turning a certain way; touching their good luck piece in their pocket or around their neck. They do this to bring them luck and to help them stay focused on their best pitching. Many athletes have this kind of good luck, motivating “thing”. I had a CEO of a Boston organization that carried an article of clothing in his briefcase that he wore the day that the Red Sox’s stomped the Yankees – he had it with him for good luck and motivation…for every game the Sox’s played that season.
Your thing could be your lucky running shoes; a favorite shirt; a treasured piece of jewelry you wear for that perfect date; a book that inspires you —- it does not matter what it is or how ridiculous others may think it is. When you use it or wear it, it makes you feel great!!. When you feel great, you are motivated. When you are motivated, you create successful outcomes. With successful outcomes under your belt, you get to pick and choose what life you want to have.
So what keeps you motivated? Mine is a sand rock from Zion State Park from 20 years ago when I hiked there. It has a place of honor right here on my office desk.
