How are you doing on demonstrating best practices for leadership and communication?

My research, while working on producing a new keynote speech, has been beyond fascinating for me. I keep running into “do it this way, not that way” articles about one’s behavior. It really sounds like most of us are off the rails and making muck in our professionals lives. Especially in leading and communicating.

When I ask executives, managers, team leaders, BODs, CEOs what their biggest challenges are, they NEVER exclude leadership and communication. They may have other issues, but leadership and communication are always up for improvement.

So how are you doing? Are you leading well? Are you communicating clearly? Have you asked anyone lately how you are doing? Yes, I know it is performance review time at the office – are people sharing with you and others what they really could be working on to improve how they are surviving or thriving in the workplace?
