What do you mean you listened and everything seemed to be more clear??

What do you mean you listened and everything seemed to be more clear??

There is a statement, lots of years old, about having “two ears and one mouth”. It is supposed to be a less insulting way to say to people that they need to shut it up and listen more. Although, it also has a huge ring of truth to it.

Recall for a moment, the last time you truly listened to the person; team; project leader; family member; partner; teenage and how it changed the entire “energy” of the situation. Think calm, clear and open. Think confident.

If anyone has told you that you are not listening, it is most likely true. Communication and listening is not the act of waiting to talk. Real listening involves presence, body language, interest and silence on your part. If you have not taken the free NMA listening test, try it out. You will find out how you are doing in the listening category. Trust me, most people are shocked at how badly their listening skills have deteriorated in the busy lives they lead.

May we help?
