Did you know that real listening is not the act of waiting to talk?

Did you know that real listening is not the act of waiting to talk?
My friend Mary Warzecka has done some pretty remarkable work over the years and that is her statement. When I first heard it I was floored because I thought I was listening. When in fact, I was just waiting to talk. How about you??
Don’t miss the key points of what people are trying to tell you. They are important. People need and want to be listened to. Personal relationships or professional colleagues/clients all have a deep desire to be listened to…it helps them feel valued, respected, honored and important. It also gives you the upper hand on information – getting it right the first time and creating seriously clear outcomes and successes.
Time and energy sometimes wipes out the desire to listen. Your listening skills probably need a bit of a polishing. The speed of the world has us silently encouraging people to “hurry up” and get done with the talking so the actions can be taken. Nope, not listening. The NMA listening test, already taken and appreciated by thousands, is free for you to take. See the link below.
Your listening results will surprise you more than just a little bit.
